  • What are galactagogues?
Galactagogues are foods/herbs that aid in lactation and increase milk supply. Examples of galactagogues are fenugreek, oats, brewer's yeast and almonds to name a few. Sweet Nectar's products are loaded with galactagogues to make them a milk boosting snack that you can feel good about.
  • Why do you use brewer's yeast in your products?
Brewer's yeast is a galactagogue and nutritional supplement that can boost milk production in nursing mommas. Nutritionally speaking, brewer's yeast has several health benefits: aiding digestion, improving energy, lowering blood sugar in people with diabetes and stimulating the immune system, to name a few. It is rich in chromium, protein, selenium, iron, potassium, zinc and magnesium. Plus it is a good source of B vitamins! Anyone can benefit from consuming brewer's yeast, not just new mommas, which is why we says its okay to share our products with others!
  • Will eating your products increase my milk supply?
That's a great question! We sure do hope so, but keep in mind that every momma is different. Many nursing mammas notice an increase in supply after eating about 1-3 cookies a day, while others see a boost at their next nursing/pumping session. To maximize results, it is recommended to combine SN's products with other milk boosting activities and habits such as frequent nursing/pumping session, adequate nutrition, plenty of fluid intake and rest.
  • Can my spouse eat your products?
Of course! That is, if you are willing to share them! Although SN's products are made with nursing mammas in mind, anyone can eat them! All of our treats are made with wholesome ingredients that provide nutritional benefits as well!
  • Are you certified gluten/dairy/soy free?
Although our products are made without gluten, dairy or soy, Sweet Nectar's product is not certified gluten-, dairy-, or soy free due to the fact that our products are made in a kitchen that houses those ingredients. At Sweet Nectar we do our best to ensure food safety and prevent cross contaimination whenever possible.
  • How long are your products good for?
Our products are made fresh for you, no artificial ingredients to extend shelf life. We recommend to store our products in an airtight container or bag to maintain and maximize freshness, which we safely say about 1 week. Also, feel free to freeze our treats to extend its lifetime and have a treat whenever you need it!

  • Help! I need to increase my supply ASAP! What can I do!
Here at Sweet Nectar, we know that making milk is no easy task! Many times what works one day may not produce the same results the next. Each momma's situation is unique and there are countless factors that can impact supply. A certified lactation consultant/IBCLC is the go to resource first and foremost. They can discuss and work with you on how to get the perfect latch, positioning and answer all of your 'is this normal/how do I' questions. We strongly recommend you educate yourself on low milk production and healthy ways to increase supply. A reliable online resource, if you are unable to reach a certified lacation consultant and need answers immediately, is kellymom.com. When in doubt remember to, "stay calm and nurse/pump on". Frequency of feedings and pumpings, every 2-3 hours, is key to keeping supply high. If you ever feel overwhelmed, remember it is okay to give yourself a break! Sit back enjoy an SN cookie and breathe. You got this!
